How to steam frozen momo at home

A calm guide for frozen momo: how to keep their texture, serve them warm and pair them with chutney.

Preparation

Frozen momo do not need to be thawed before steaming. What matters is a hot steamer, enough space between the momo and a lightly oiled steamer insert.

Steaming

Place the momo into the steamer straight from the freezer. Once strong steam builds, they usually need around 10 to 14 minutes depending on size. The dough should be soft and elastic, and the filling fully hot.

Serving

Momo are best served directly from the steamer with a small bowl of chutney, something fresh on the side and enough time at the table.
